8. Keynote Presentation  
8.a.  
Keynote Speaker: Prosperity and the Power of Place in the Bay Area  
Tracy Hadden Loh, a Fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Center for  
Transformative Placemaking, will set the stage for the conference by  
highlighting the power of place and the importance of regional alignment in  
an uncertain world still recovering from the COVID pandemic. Dr. Loh’s  
work focuses on the intersection of commercial real estate, infrastructure,  
racial equity and governance. Her presentation will link her experience as a  
former elected official and her national research with the realities of the Bay  
Area and help frame the conversation around recovery and growth. She  
recently co-authored the Brookings Institution’s report entitled “Breaking the  
‘urban doom loop’: The future of downtowns is shared prosperity.”  
After the presentation, President Arreguín and Bay Area Council President  
and CEO Jim Wunderman will join Dr. Loh in a discussion of the state of  
the regional economy and lessons from other parts of the country, followed  
by an audience Q&A session.

9. Panel Presentation

Panel Presentation on Bay Area Case Studies: Local Efforts that Drive  
Regional Prosperity  
This panel will highlight how communities around the region are working to  
bring about inclusive economic prosperity. Panel members will share  
community visions and challenges for the future, as well as plans to  
implement strategies tailored to local conditions. Following brief  
presentations, the panel will discuss how the region can grow middle-wage  
jobs and drive the next cycle of economic growth. There will be an  
opportunity for audience Q&A.
